Mass production

So far the adobe brick production is running very well. We have already produced almost half of the number of bricks we need to complete our walls. 

Die Produktion der Lehmziegel verläuft bisher sehr gut, denn wir konnten bereits nahezu die Hälfte aller benötigten Ziegel herstellen.
 

In the meantime the rammend earth wall is rising slowly but steadily: we’ve almost reached 1 meter in height and put in the first erosion line. This portion of the wall includes a niche, whos form incorporates the ideas came out of the design lab last sunday. Laura, Anna and Timo left our team to return home so we had to say our goodbyes.

Währenddessen wächst unsere Stampflehmwand langsam aber stetig Schicht um Schicht. Die 1m Marke wurde fast erreicht, die erste Erosionslinie gelegt und eine, von unseren Teilnehmern entworfene Wandnische, miteingearbeitet. 
 Von Anna, Laura und Timo mussten wir uns leider schon wieder verabschieden. Wir danken euch von Herzen für die tatkräftige Unterstützung!

On Saturday part of the team went to the marketplace in Kumasi, which is the largest market in all of West Africa, to buy badly needed tools and supplies. They were able to find a cordless drill and machetes as well as a few souvenirs, and explore a little of the large city. The rest of the team stayed to work with the local workers to continue work on the rammed earth wall. 

Am Samstag machte ein Teil unseres Teams einen Ausflug nach Kumasi. In Kumasi befindet sich der größte Markt Westafrikas. Dort mussten zusätzlich zu den persönlichen Besorgungen einige Werkzeuge, wie ein Akkuschrauber, Macheten etc. für die Baustelle besorgt werden.
Der andere Teil des Teams blieb in Abetenim und setzte die Arbeit mit Hilfe unserer lokalen Mitarbeiter an der Stampflehmwand fort.
